Our orthotic appliances are designed to realign the jaw and/or tongue in relation to the airway. They prevent
sleep apnea or snoring from occurring during sleep by establishing an open airway and allowing normal air flow.

Orthotic Appliance Therapy (OAT)
Explanation of treatment plan
Consultation :
Limited exam to assess your risk for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and to determine if you're are a candidate for Orthotic Appliance Therapy (OAT) If you are a candidate and decide to proceed with treatment the charge for this service will be applied to the Plan of Treatment below.
FIRST VISIT: New Patient Evaluation – (2) hour appointment to include: Full series x-rays, 12 documentation photos, periodontal exam, soft tissue & oral exam, dental exam, charting of existing restoration, occlusal/bite exam, airway exam, TMD (TMJ) muscle exam, oral cancer screening. The impressions for the oral orthotic appliance are taken and an appointment is made for the delivery and fitting of your appliance in approximately 3 weeks.
SECOND VISIT; Delivery of Appliance – Appliance is adjusted, fitted & instructions are given to you on how to care for and use the appliance. An appointment is made in (2) weeks for adjustments & evaluation.
THIRD VISIT: (2) Week Evaluation – The appliance is evaluated and adjustments are made. Occlusion and TMJ are examined. Instructions are given to you on how to advance (titrate) the appliance. You will receive a copy of our comprehensive report that we have sent to your sleep physician. At this time you will be given a titration form to keep a record of your progress and you will bring this to your next appointment. An appointment is made for a (3) month evaluation, or sooner if necessary.
FOURTH VISIT: (3) Month Evaluation - Evaluation and adjustments are made. Occlusion and TMJ are examined. A sleep recorder is taken home & used while sleeping. It is returned the next business day. If the reading shows that your levels are within normal limits then we will refer you back to the sleep physician for a follow up monitored sleep study. If the recorder shows signs of OSA then we will titrate the appliance further and do another night with the recorder prior to referring you back to your sleep physician.
